Welcome to my personal site.  My name is BJ Vander Linden (the title kind of gives that away…).  I hope you take some time to browse the blog, and maybe some of the links.

A little about me.  I’ve been in the professional world now for a little over 10 years now.  I’ve worked in a number of industries, from Property Management to Financial Servcies, however the common thread has always been problem solving.  I am really a glutton for punishment that loves to come in and fix what is broken.  I thrive on a good challenge and therefore love to take on the “tough” job.  Once things change from creating, innovating, and solving to maintaining things start to get a bit boring for me.

I love technology.  I don’t have a degree in that area, nor was I someone who grew up programming like many of the very talented IT folks I know.  However, I love to see how the implementation of a new and emerging technology, coupled with solid process and training, can work miracles in the business world. To use an overused cliche, in this fast-paced buseiness environment, if you can’t innovate and embrace technology, I feel you’ll be left behind.  Companies today need to figure out how to trim waste, and thusly cost, and continue to fight the battle with an intent to win.  Sitting, waiting, and resting on your laurels only sets you up to get your butt kicked.  At least that is my opinion…

So what am I currently doing, and more importantly, what do I feel is my expertise?  Currently, I work for O’Currance Teleservices.  We are an inbound Telesales provider, servicing all sorts of clients needing inbound sales and customer service work.  I am Vice President of Operations.  What does all that mean?  Well, basically, it means that I am responsible for all the people, technology, and process in our call center.  I also have responsibility for the technology roadmap, strategy, choices, facilities, purchasing, etc…  I made the move in June 2008 and have been swamped.   Lots to be done, but a good environment to be in.

What else can I say?  I have a number of years of experience in Contact Center technology and infrastructure.  I’m a certified Project Manager, PMP .. basically, it means I’ve managed a ton of projects and know what I’m doing.  My bachelor’s degree was in Economics from the University of Utah, and an MBA from Utah State University.

However, the most important part of my life is that I’m a husband to a gorgeous and loving wife, and the father to three active and amazing boys.  My family is extremely important to me, and so I try to maintain a work/life balance such that I can attend litttle league games and be home at night to spend time with my wife.

Not much else to say.  I’m always willing to chat with people about their new solutions and ideas. I try and blog about my ideas and impressions, technology and gadgets, and sometimes I just rant. If you have the desire to reach out to me, I’m not that hard to get in touch with, just check out the top of the page.
